CDOT hired Lawrence Construction as the design/build contractor to rebuild I-25 between Van Buren and Main Street in Trinidad Colorado over the Purgatoire River.  This three phase project incorporates aesthetic features that tie into Trinidad’s historic architecture and natural surroundings including a color palette for retaining walls, bridge and viaducts that match the surrounding stone bluffs.  The contract also included upgrades to Purgatoire River Park, an extension of the Purgatoire River Trail, a new parking lot under the viaducts and safety upgrades to accommodate railroad crossings and noise mitigation.
